Prospects of Digital Tourism Development in Uzbekistan
Abstract
In an era where digital transformation is rapidly reshaping economies and societies, the global tourism industry is experiencing a profound shift toward smarter, more integrated systems. Urban environments worldwide are increasingly evolving into "smart cities," where information and communications technologies (ICT) are implemented to achieve higher efficiency, eco-friendliness, and an enhanced quality of life. Within this paradigm, the transition toward a "smart tourism city" has emerged as a critical avenue for development. This framework leverages cutting-edge technologies—such as mobile applications, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT)—to redefine how visitors engage with destinations, optimize resource use, reduce carbon emissions, and improve destination governance. Today's travelers are no longer passive consumers; they are digitally empowered citizens who expect seamless, customized, and contactless services from initial trip planning through to after-visit feedback. Consequently, global competitiveness hinges heavily on a destination's capacity to integrate smart strategies.Downloads
