The Role of Regional Tourism Innovation Index in the Tourism Economy

Abstract

This article analyzes the role of innovative technologies in the tourism economy theoretically and methodologically. The main goal of the study is to develop a Regional Tourism Innovation Index (RTII), which allows assessing the digital maturity of the region in the tourism sector through a single indicator. The author's definition of the concept of "innovative technologies in the tourism economy" is also proposed. The results of the study are of practical importance in developing regional tourism policy, prioritizing investments in digital infrastructure, and developing innovative services.
