Abstract

Anthroponymy, as a system of personal names, reflects the historical, social, and cultural values of a speech community. This study examines the linguocultural features of Uzbek and English anthroponymy from a contrastive perspective, focusing on the semantic, structural, and cultural aspects of personal names. The analysis shows that while both systems share certain universal characteristics, they differ in naming motivation, cultural symbolism, and social usage. These differences reflect broader contrasts in cultural identity, religious influence, and social organization, highlighting the role of anthroponyms as important linguistic markers of culture.
