Abstract

This article analyzes the main translation strategies used in the process of translating English-language internet memes into Uzbek. Internet memes are an important element of modern digital communication, expressing a certain idea or emotional attitude through short text, images, and cultural context. The study examines the process of adapting widely used English-language memes for Uzbek online communities and analyzes linguistic and cultural problems arising in the translation process. In particular, the use of such strategies as equivalence, localization, adaptation, and cultural adaptation in the translation of memes is considered. During the study, a comparative analysis of popular internet memes in English was conducted based on examples translated into Uzbek, and their semantic content and communicative impact were evaluated. The results of the analysis show that in the effective translation of memes, it is important to consider not only language units, but also their cultural context. In some cases, literal translation of the meme text can lead to the loss of its humorous or ironic content. Therefore, it will be necessary to use alternative expressions and local cultural elements suitable for the Uzbek online audience. The research results serve to determine effective strategies for translating English-language internet memes into Uzbek and to expand the possibilities of their correct application in the process of intercultural communication.
