THEORETICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF DEVELOPING ENGLISH COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

Abstract

This study examines the theoretical and pedagogical foundations of developing English communicative competence. It highlights communicative, learner-centered, activity-based, contextual, and interactive approaches as key elements in language education. The study shows that effective communicative competence requires the integration of linguistic knowledge, meaningful communication, authentic contexts, interaction, strategic learning, and formative assessment. Digital technologies and authentic materials can further support learners’ communicative development when used purposefully.
