THE USE OF STORYTELLING TECHNIQUES IN ENHANCING SPEAKING FLUENCY

Abstract

In recent years, the importance of speaking fluency in English language learning has gained significant attention among educators and researchers worldwide. Speaking fluency is not only a vital communicative skill but also a critical factor that boosts learners’ confidence and motivation. However, many learners face challenges in developing fluency due to limited exposure, lack of practice opportunities, and anxiety during speaking activities. To overcome these difficulties, innovative and engaging teaching methods are required. One such promising approach is the use of storytelling techniques. Storytelling, as an ancient and universal human activity, offers a dynamic way to improve speaking fluency by providing meaningful context, stimulating imagination, and encouraging natural language use. This thesis explores how storytelling techniques can be effectively integrated into English language teaching to enhance learners' speaking fluency.
