Abstract

This article explores the role of interdisciplinary integrated independent study tasks in fostering professional competence among students learning English as a foreign language. By combining language acquisition with subject-specific knowledge and skills, these tasks promote autonomous learning, critical thinking, and practical application of English in professional contexts. The study proposes a methodological framework for designing such tasks, emphasizing their alignment with real-world professional demands. Drawing on empirical data from classroom implementations, the findings suggest that integrated independent study enhances students’ linguistic proficiency, interdisciplinary understanding, and self-directed learning capabilities, preparing them for diverse professional environments.
