THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF TEXTUAL CONTEXT IN THE FUNCTIONAL DEPLOYMENT OF APPENDED CONSTRUCTIONS

Abstract

This research paper investigates the structural and functional integration of appended constructions (PA) within the frameworks of Construction Grammar and discourse analysis. By synthesizing theories from Bergs, Fried, and Lambrecht, the study identifies how the syntactic and textual environment (context) serves as the primary mechanism for fixing the functional status of "extra" linguistic material. The paper argues that appended elements are not peripheral additives but are fully integrated into the mental representation of discourse, facilitating a shift from simple attribution to complex communicative predication.
