Abstract

Teaching English linguistics to TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) students presents unique challenges, given the linguistic diversity and varying proficiency levels of learners. This article explores core challenges, including phonetic and phonological differences, understanding syntax and morphology, sociolinguistic variability, and the impact of cultural factors on learning. These elements often require TESOL instructors to adopt specialized, flexible pedagogical approaches to meet student needs effectively. This paper also highlights possible teaching strategies to address these challenges and enhance student comprehension of English linguistics.
