Abstract

This article examines the lexico-semantic characteristics of modal verbs in English and Uzbek fairy tales, revealing how modality contributes to the expression of magic, morality, and possibility within narrative discourse. Fairy tales, as a unique form of folklore, rely heavily on modal verbs to construct the boundaries between the real and the imaginary, the possible and the impossible.
