The upcoming elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Councils of People’s Deputies on October 27 represent a significant step in the nation's democratic evolution. This election cycle introduces a mixed electoral system combining majoritarian and proportional representation, allowing voters to directly elect 75 deputies while the remaining 75 will be selected via party votes. The complete digitization of the electoral process through the "E-Saylov" system enhances efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity by providing real-time information to voters. Furthermore, new legislation mandates that at least 40% of candidates from political parties be women, promoting gender equality in political representation. These elections occur alongside a renewed Constitution that expands parliamentary powers and enhances local governance. With a commitment to inclusivity and technological advancement, Uzbekistan is poised to set a precedent for democratic engagement and reform.Downloads
